Reflections, an exciting announcement and a look forward to Spring!

What a start to the year we have had here at Viva Piano!

No January blues here

January saw us kick off with a new term of Introduction to Piano classes. We met the most incredible group of children and families - full of enthusiasm, fun and as it turns out, talent! We wrapped up our Winter term on Saturday and while it was sad to wave goodbye for a few weeks, we can't wait to see most of them again in the Spring and to meet some new budding musicians.

Laura and I always like to reflect a little after a term of classes and this time, we wanted to share our highlight of such a special few weeks.

Mine (Scarlett's):

I am so proud of all our kids this term. We really threw a lot at them - particularly with our Sing and Play exercises - and I was SO impressed at their perseverance when things got tricky. But, I think my personal highlight was seeing the confidence growth in some of our students. By the last session, every single child had managed to perform something for the group, which is a HUGE achievement for kids so young and totally new to the instrument. I like to think that we created a safe and supported space where they felt confident enough to let us see them shine.

Laura's:

There were some real highlights this term that I'll carry with me for a long time. First, the parents. So many of them were swept up in the fun of it all. Musical or not, it didn't really matter one bit. They were there, fully present, learning alongside their child and cheering them on. Then there was the student who proudly showed us the piano book she'd made herself. The pride on her face said everything. And finally, the budding musician who played through a whole song with two hands during the mini-recital. Their mum teared up. So, did I. It's these moments which tell me we're building something exciting and special here, and I can't wait to see where this goes.

Springing into the new season

February saw us open bookings for our Spring term starting 11th April - we can't wait. And what's more exciting...drumroll please...LEVEL UP IS BACK! We absolutely loved teaching this intermediate programme back in Autumn of last year and we couldn't be happier that we're able to do it all again.

If you're curious, Level Up Piano is for children with some piano or keyboard experience, or who have completed at least one term of our beginner course. We introduce some more advanced theory elements, more chords and two-handed playing, as well as some improvisation. Any questions, we're here!

Marching on with our new Practice Library

March has been a biggie for us. We've officially opened the Viva Piano Practice Library - a growing set of digital resources to support at-home practise between lessons. We add a new pack every month, and each one contains a guided practice session full of Viva Piano fun - melodies, chords, games, challenges - you name it.

There are three packs already in the library, with a new one on its way for the beginning of April. You can find all the info here and download the first practice pack for free!

This is such an exciting step for us and we're so grateful for all the support and helpful feedback we've received so far.

Stay tuned as we continue our 2026 journey!

Scarlett x
