You asked. We listened. Viva Piano is for grown-ups too.
If you've ever sat in on one of our little musicians' Viva Piano sessions
and thought to yourself, 'I'd love to do that,' well, we've got some news.
We're building our first ever adult piano lessons - beginner friendly, in-person, small group vibes.
Why now?
"Do you teach adults too?"
We’ve been hearing this for a while. From our pupil’s parents. From friends (ok…so they might be a bit biased). From people we've met just going about our day (less bias).
The real turning point came during one of our summer planning sessions. We were sitting in my garden, kids finally in bed, going through all the ways we can grow Viva Piano.
And somewhere along the way, we stopped brushing the idea of adult classes off as a nice idea for 'future us,' and started talking about how we can make it happen.
Sound familiar?
"I always wished I'd learnt"
“My keyboard is in the attic gathering dust”
“I haven't played for years… where would I start?”
We built Viva Piano because we believe every child deserves a fun, pressure-free way into music, and we've loved watching our young musicians discover just how much they enjoy it, term after term.
But we kept noticing the same gap for grown-ups. Many children get the chance to fall in love with an instrument. So few adults get the same opportunity. Whether it's because there's never enough time, you're spinning 20 plates, or the thought of trying something new is nerve-wracking (we completely empathise with this one), there's always a reason to bump yourself down the priority list.
So, we're taking all of this and are building (and trialling) a beginner piano lessons for adults. They'll be happening in North Herts and are for:
Complete beginners - very welcome. No experience needed.
Second time around - learnt years ago and haven't touched a piano since? Then come hang out with us.
Parents already in the room - you're there for your child's session each week. Come sit at the keyboard, not just the chair beside it.
What our adult piano lessons in North Herts will include
We're taking the same thinking that's helped children fall in love with music, and are adapting it into something for adults:
We’ve got your back with chords, improvisation, reading music and theory
Evening classes, so it fits around your day
Small groups, so you get real support and a bit of friendly company
No pressure, no recitals, just a relaxed space to learn at your own pace
We're still working through the finer details, and we'll share more very soon.
