It's a new year, same love of music over here at Viva Piano! We have so much planned for 2026 and we just can't wait to get going.
We've kicked things off in the best possible way - by welcoming a new bunch of musicians to our Introduction to Piano group courses this past Saturday. Week one was FULL of energy, curiosity, and the magic of playing a melody for the first time. For the next 7 weeks, we'll be guiding our students through some music theory fundamentals, working our way towards two-handed playing and composition, and learning how to accompany ourselves singing using chords. We can't wait to see how they get on.
What’s Coming Up
We're hugely excited to be bringing back Level Up Piano in the Spring. Designed for kids with some experience, or who have completed our Intro course, this 8-week course will introduce some more complex theory components, more two-handed playing, as well as developing our composition and improvisational skills.
We’re also planning some taster workshops and a few special events throughout the year, which are a great way to see what we're all about. You'd be surprised how much children can learn in one session!
And just between us parents and teachers…we’re working behind the scenes on some new digital learning resources to support students at home. Think engaging, easy-to-use tools that help reinforce what your child learnt during our courses. More on that later...👀
Our Goals for 2026
A new year is a great time to reset expectations and set some goals. Here's what we’re focusing on this year:
Progress, not perfection
We celebrate effort, consistency, and small wins because that’s how real learning happens.
Adapt, adapt, adapt
Every child is beautifully unique and will learn and thrive in different ways. They also have different musical tastes! Finding that balance between collaborative learning with individualised support is a challenge that we're tackling head on.
Keep learning fun, but recognising when kids need extra support
Of course, laughter, creativity, and joy belong in every lesson. But learning an instrument is not easy and we're there to support every disappointment, exasperated sigh and even the occasional tear when things aren't going to plan.
Supporting families
Clear communication, helpful resources, and realistic practise expectations because we know, better than anyone, life is busy.
So, as we begin 2026 with our wonderful winter courses and look ahead to everything to come, we’re feeling grateful for our students, families, and community. Watching children grow through music -week by week, note by note - is why we do what we do.
2026, let's do this!
